2016 was a remarkable year for Kwame: From topping the Triple J Unearthed Hip Hop chart, making his national radio debut on Edge 96.1 with K-Sera & The Dirty Dozen and being pulled on stage by A$AP Ferg, this 20 year old artist and producer from Sydney's west is blowing up out of the Australian hip hop club scene.
Kwame has gained a huge following, he's been creating a buzz in Sydney’s underground party scene by taking over some of Sydney’s best venues, and as Best Before has proclaimed “straight up murdering a headline set at World Bar’s The Wall which saw the venue reach capacity on a freakin’ Wednesday night!”
From his debut single “I Get It”, which reached no.1 on the Australian Triple J Unearthed Hip Hop Chart to his dark and energized freestyle on “Bluffin’”, Kwame demonstrates progress and diversity in his sound.
During his high-school years he layed down the groundwork for his career by creating and recording music while working with his mentor I Digress.
Inspired by Kanye West, Chance The Rapper and Goldlink, Kwame has enlisted a roll-call of collaborators including Sydney’s Korky Buchek and Raj Mahal. Released in March 2017, his debut EP ‘Lesson Learned’ is a showcase of his ability to comfortably move between genres and incorporate new influences into his music. “I aim to show how diverse I am in terms of sound” says Kwame, “In life we shouldn’t set ourselves to achieve just one thing, we are capable of so many things and we should never limit ourselves”.
This year Kwame has captivated audiences and critics alike with his charismatic live show, sharing the stage with electronic heavyweight UV boi, London’s AJ Tracey and most recently Migos at Sydney’s iconic Marquee nightclub.
